I moved to Invercargill to pursue my dream of becoming a film director. I have been making films from the age of twelve, where I have travelled all over the world showcasing these films in a range of competitions and festivals. Flying South is my latest work, showcasing Invercargill and its surroundings from a new aerial perspective.
Filming by drone, creates a sense of discovery and wonder that has not been widely explored in Southland. Inspiration for this film has come from artists such as New Zealander Sam Peacocke who creates short narrative drone videos and adverts for successful NZ and global companies. I want this film to allow viewers to think or feel any way they like as the imagery unfolds. “The gap created by the unspoken allows emotion to take reign and for viewers to see familiar environments from a new perspective”. The viewer is free to simply feel instead of think and enjoy what Southland has to offer. For further information please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
